Fighting for the beef state

Body
Nebraska is known around the world for our hardworking farmers and ranchers. Agriculture is the heart and soul of our state. Beef production delivers billions of dollars to our economy every year. It’s also essential to our national security. But today, the “Beef State” way of life is under threat. Once again, anti-agriculture activists have taken over a federal entity to impose a radical, anti-beef agenda on the country. We must reject this unscientific approach.

Doctor Chekhov,

Literature classes worldwide study Anton Chekhov (1860-1904), a great innovator of the short story. He wrote closely observed and deeply empathic slices-oflife with a great sense of humor — but the Russian-Lit-classversion of Dr.

Supporting Israel Critical to Middle East Peace

Body
On the eve of October 7th, 2023, the Middle East was more peaceful than it had been in years. Just a few years earlier, President Trump had brokered the Abraham Accords, historic agreements between Israel, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain. And in the months before October 7th, Israel and Saudi Arabia were nearing an agreement to normalize their relations, with the Saudi Crown Prince saying: “we’re getting closer to peace every day.” The entire region seemed primed for a new era of lasting change.

Pay heed to the walkin’ light

Body
We talked about vehicles last week and we’re going to again this week. With the Gerlach fleet of vehicles, of which there are now four, lights adorn the dashboard. There’s check engine lights, tire inflation lights and then there’s something called “service stabilitrak,” whatever that means. You learn to live with these.

Giving Thanks

Body
Would you like to sleep better, have a healthier heart and less aches and pains? How about a lower blood pressure, a higher self -esteem and enhanced relationships? Would you believe that the Mayo Clinic and Harvard University, as well as other scientist all say these benefits can be yours with very little effort. And it doesn’t require a change in your diet or excessive exercise!

Happy Thanksgiving Nebraska

Body
This Thanksgiving is a perfect moment to reflect on the many blessings we have as Nebraskans and as Americans. Our nation has its challenges, but there is so much we can be thankful for. As I travel across our great state, I meet with neighbors in towns large and small. I’ve been reminded again and again of the strength, decency, and character of the people here in Nebraska. So let us pause, give thanks, and remember what makes our state and country truly special.

What I’m Thankful For

Body
2024 has been a contentious year in Washington, with its fair share of fights and drama. And while those fights get media attention, there are plenty of positive stories that don’t make headlines.

Deer season came a few weeks too late

Body
I hope all of our hunters have enjoyed the first weekend of deer season. And if you haven’t seen any deer, I don’t want to hear about it. Nearly five years ago, I was about as excited as a kid on Christmas Eve when I made perhaps my favorite purchase of my adult life - a ‘98 Buick Park Avenue. I love old Buicks and I paid $1,000 for the car.

Doing Right by our Veterans

Body
President John F. Kennedy once said, “A nation reveals itself not only by the men it produces but also by the men it honors, the men it remembers.” Each Veterans Day, we take time to honor our brave veterans. These women and men have served our country with courage. They’ve made great sacrifices to protect our freedoms. We owe them a debt of gratitude that we can never repay. One way we can support them is by ensuring that they get the benefits they earned. I’m proud of the work my office has done in helping veterans and their families overcome bureaucratic failures.

Caring for Expectant Moms

Body
Lately my teenager has been fascinated by medical dramas. Although my “doctor self” is usually rolling my eyes throughout the program, it’s often a good conversation starter.
