ELM CREEK - After an awful start doomed their hopes in the opener, the Southern Valley boys basketball team leaned on its defense to hang around in game two at Elm Creek Saturday night, but couldn’t find enough scoring punch.

BARTLEY - The Southwest girls basketball team split its first two games of the season, downing Medicine Valley, 48-35, on the road Thursday before falling at home to Maywood-Hayes Center, 6142, Saturday.

ARAPAHOE - Following a difficult loss to Overton on Thursday, the Arapahoe girls basketball team picked up its first win of the season with a 49-21 triumph over Dundy County-Stratton Friday. The Warriors outscored the Tigers in each quarter and built a 25-12 lead at the half before cruising to the finish.

ARAPAHOE - With a pair of strong opponents to start the season, the Arapahoe boys basketball team dropped its first two contests of the year, falling at Overton, 59-23, Thursday before returning home for a 73-50 setback against Dundy County-Stratton Friday.

ANSLEY - The Hi-Line girls basketball team dropped a pair of tough losses to Wilcox-Hildreth and Ansley-Litchfield to open the season. The Bulls fell into a 3215 hole at the half Thursday before outscoring the Falcons after half in a 14-point loss.

Hi-LineThe Bulls started strong in the first and heated up in the second of their opener against the Falcons. Hi-Line led 15-6 after one and scored 25 in the second to blow the game open for a 4012 lead at the half.
