MCCOOK - The Southwest volleyball team had opportunities to take Tuesday’s RPAC Volleyball Championship Game, but two-time defending champion Maywood-Hayes Center proved too tough to close. Southwest held off a late rally from the Wolves in the opening set as Caylin Barnett terminated on the Roughriders final remaining set point chance for a 25-23 victory.

Hi-Line rolls away from Cambridge to claim district title

ELWOOD - The Hi-Line Bulls jumped all over visiting Cambridge in Friday night’s district and regular season finale. Then, after seeing most of a three-score lead disappear, the Bulls dropped the hammer again and rolled to a 70-24 victory. The win pushed Hi-Line to 7-1 this season and closed out a sweep of the district. Cambridge fell to 4-4.

Eagles drop pair of five-set decisions

SOUTHERN VALLEY The Southern Valley volleyball team battled through 10 sets in two matches last week, but came out on the short end of two fifth-set defeats to winning clubs. Tuesday, the Eagles rallied with an extra points win in the fourth to force a fifth at Alma (18-8) before falling in a 19-25, 25-18, 25-20, 26-28, 15-9 win for the Cardinals.

SOUTHERN VALLEY - In a game of contrasting styles, offense ran amok between Furnas County rivals Arapahoe and Southern Valley Thursday night. But after 111 combined points and nearly 900 yards, it was the Warriors that held the advantage in a 69-42 victory that pushed them to 4-3 this season.

CAMBRIDGE - The Cambridge football team picked up its fourth win of the season Friday afternoon, riding a first-half offensive onslaught to a 69-42 triumph over visting Bayard. The Trojans scored 55 points and had nearly 400 yards of offense in the first half as they rolled to a 55-14 lead at the break, then coasted to the finish.

BARTLEY - For the bulk of the game on a cool Friday night in Bartley, the visting Brady Eagles did about everything necessary to keep the Southwest football team at bay. The Eagles tackled well in space and used their speed for big plays on the ground and through the air.

by Coach Caleb Wall We had a nice and relaxed meet to end our regular season with. In the girls' race, Whitney Dickau led us on this Minden Course. She was joined by teammates Natalie Malcom, Payton Muegerl, Dallas Weitzel, Whitney Page, and Genesee Knackstedt in placing in the top 15. This put us in second place as a team behind Elm Creek. We had never run here before, and so we don't have times to compare to from last year, but looking at our times from this year, the majority of kids ran their fastest times of the year here.

ALMENA - The Arapahoe volleyball team wrapped up its regular season slate with a pair of five-set matches last week. The Warriors lost a late lead in the fifth of a five-set defeat to Axtell (19-6)l Tuesday before leaning on that experience to finish off a five-set win at Northern Valley (16-10) on Thursday.

EUSTIS - With a strong second quarter and continued dominance in the third, the Hi-Line football team continued to roll through district play Friday witha 56-20 triumph over Alma. The victory was the sixth of the season for the Bulls, who scored 22-unanswered int he second quarter to take a 30-8 lead at halftime.
