As Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine continues, conflict within Russia has recently flared, and threats from rogue nations have escalated, this week House Republicans have focused on delivering on our commitment to a nation that’s safe through the Fiscal Year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act (FY24 NDAA), Congress’ primary legislative vehicle to authorize defense spending.

Gosper County celebrates 150th anniversary at Elwood Courthouse.

Kevin Lambert of Arapahoe and Greg Howerter of Cambridge both go to their jobs everyday to work with the same thing: waste. The two men’s jobs compare and contrast in many ways.

There’s an old adage that those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat its mistakes. Despite teaching history as early as kindergarten, we sometimes forget its lessons. In doing so, we miss opportunities to prevent it from repeating. Our posture toward the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine is one such example.

Earlier this year, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation honored 144 firefighters who passed away in 2021 and 2022. Four of those officers were from our home state of Nebraska: Fire Chief Darren Krull, James Bissonnette, Captain Christopher Parker, and Assistant Chief Michael Moody.

As a patient, it can be challenging to navigate the healthcare system. This can lead to frustration and disappointment in the system itself. My intent with this article is to be both informative and alleviate some angst associated with seeking medical care.

The Wilsonville Garden Club’s July meeting was hosted by Jim and Jane Foster of Bartley. The group was given a tour of the Fosters’ incredibly beautiful and lush flower gardens, pristine water feature, tree syrup production area, workshop, and flourishing vegetable gardens. All of the Fosters’ hard work shines although Jane gives Jim most of the credit declaring , “I only take care of the roses...”

BARTLEY – The board of trustees conducted village business in just under 20 minutes on July 11. In addition to approving the minutes, claims, and financial reports from the previous meeting, the board voted to deny Gavin Harsh’s request for the Young Guns 20’ Shipping Container to be stored on village property.
