Miss Micky and Miss Makayla from the Furnas County Extension Office went to the Southern Valley Kindergarten classrooms yesterday to talk about embryology. The kindergartners are very excited and can’t wait for their chicks to hatch in 21 days!
March 5, 2024 -- The University of Wyoming lists the following students from Nebraska on the 2023 fall semester academic Dean’s and Dean’s Freshman Honor Rolls. The honor rolls consist of regularly enrolled undergraduates above freshman standing who earned a 3.4 or better grade-point average, and freshmen who have earned a 3.25 or better grade-point average.
The Arapahoe City Council met for their regular meeting on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at 7:30 pm. The council approved the consent agenda which included minutes of the previous meeting and claims.

Roselyn Marie (Wells) Junker was born July 9, 1929 at Deaconess Hospital in Spokane, WA to Louis F and Jeannette (Longley) Wells and passed from this life March 9, 2024 at Phelps Memorial Health Center surrounded by her family. At 5 years of age, she was sent by train from Spokane to Stanley, ND to live on a farm with a great aunt and uncle.
Lewis “Lewie” Ivan Palmer, age 88, of Mc-Cook, NE passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook. Lewie was born April 13, 1935, in Wilsonville, NE to parents Ivan and Nellie L.
A memorial graveside service for Clarence “Dick” Pfeiffer was held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at the Oxford Cemetery in Oxford, Nebraska with Pastor Dan Wiese officiating. Clarence Richard “Dick” Pfeiffer, 84 years of age, of San Bruno, California, passed away, on February 24, 2024, at Christina’s Care Home in San Bruno. Dick was born in Oxford, on May 16, 1939, the eldest of three children, born to Clarence F. and Mildred A. (Lueking) Pfeiffer.
