BENKELMAN - The Southern Valley girls closed out the regular season with a hard-fought victory over Dundy County-Stratton Friday while the boys fell to the Tigers 80-49. The girls contest was tightly-contested throughout as the teams exchanged leads often after the Eagles rallied form a first half-deficit to pull even at halftime.

The Medicine Valley boys basketball team got a good look at the upcoming post season with wins over D2-8 sub-district opponents Maxwell and Brady last week. The Raiders are still in the driver’s seat of the sub-district with one game remaining on their regular season schedule.

The Medicine Valley girls basketball team ended its regular season with back-toback losses to Maxwell and Brady last week. The Raiders had a strong night rebounding last Thursday at Maxwell.

The Arapahoe hoops teams split contest at Bertrand Friday with the girls winning 44-29 to close out the regular season while the boys fell 70-43. The girls led throughout, though they struggled to shake the Vikings until late when they outscored Bertrand 27-18 after halftime.

Wolves fall at Ogallala, take down Wauneta-Palisade

Both the boys and girls Maywood-Hayes Center basketball teams dropped a tough challenge at Ogallala on Thursday before bouncing back with a resounding win against Wauneta-Palsiade on Friday. The girls challenged a strong Indians team throughout the first half on Thursday, but were undone by an 18-0 third quarter for Ogallala in a 54-42 loss.

Hi-Line boys, girls split with South Loup

The Hi-Line girls basketball team picked up its fourth win of the season while the boys’ upset bid of the Bobcats came up short at South Loup Friday. In the girls’ contest, Hi-Line rolled to a 46-27 victory over South Loup to take their fourth victory of the season.
