Many What if ✩ didn’t NOTICE? commercial beef packing facilities require producers who sell fed cattle to them to be BQA certified and those who deliver cattle to their facilities to be BQAT certified.

Kotschwar and Stengel awarded Scholarship

Kahner Kotschwar of Moorefield, Nebraska and son of Kristen Kotschwar has been awarded a scholarship from Consolidated Companies, Inc. for the 2025-2026 school year. Kahner will receive a scholarship of $2,000 for higher education. Kahner is a graduate of Medicine Valley High School. Kahner is interested in pursuing a degree in Agronomy at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.

Governor Pillen expands burn ban

Governor Jim Pillen signed an executive order extending a burn ban due to continued dry conditions in the central and western regions of Nebraska. The new order remains in effect until midnight May 20.

Free Well Water Testing

Many families in rural Nebraska get their drinking water from private wells. Private wells give people more independence, but they also come with responsibilities. One of the most important is making sure the water is safe to drink. Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD) is offering free well water testing during the month of May to encourage awareness of drinking water safety.
