LINCOLN – The Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) is currently accepting applications to attend one of the biggest ag youth outreach events in the state. The Nebraska Agricultural Youth Institute (NAYI) brings together hundreds of high school juniors and seniors for a week to learn more about agriculture, Nebraska’s number one industry.

In his 1954 State of the Union address, President Dwight D. Eisenhower announced his intention to “protect the vital interest of every citizen in a safe and adequate highway system.” Eisenhower claimed that the U.S. government must play central role in this task, advocating federal funding for an Interstate Highway System.

I confess that occasionally even doctors get squeamish. Or perhaps more honestly, this doctor does.

4-H Head, Heart, Hands & Health have been the 4 H’s in 4-H since the program was founded in 1902. When members recite the 4-H pledge they say, “my hands to larger service”, the hands in 4-H.

At the end of January, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested a terrorist in Minnesota. He crossed our southern border in early 2023, and he roamed freely across our country for almost a year before being detained.

Nebraska is what America is supposed to be. When I was Governor, we spent eight years delivering on excellence. We put taxpayers first. We respected individual freedoms and limited our spending, ran government well, and kept people safe. I wanted to serve in the U.S. Senate because I knew Washington was failing to do the same.

Routine visits to the dentist are key to maintaining overall health. Preventive dental care starts at home. We advise patients to brush twice a day, usually in the morning and before bed, for two minutes followed by flossing. Eating healthy is also crucial to maintaining oral health. Sugary foods and beverages are key factors in tooth decay. Acid is produced when the bacteria in your mouth break down sugar. That acid dissolves the tooth surface leading to tooth decay.

The beauty of nature surrounds people every day. Appreciation of nature comes in many art forms. The art of photography becomes easily accessible for all ages with a simple cell phone and basic principles. All seasons are beautiful but the season least captured in photos is winter.

There was an old commercial years ago for some kind of chewy snack or granola bar. It started with kids saying these funny, but rude things in public and then mom handing them a bar to get them to quit talking.
