By Erin Laborie, Livestock Systems Educator Nebraska Extension and Nebraska Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) will be offering BQA and BQA Transportation (BQAT) certification opportunities in late May for producers needing certification/ recertification. Many What if ✩ didn’t NOTICE? commercial beef packing facilities require producers who sell fed cattle to them to be BQA certified and those who deliver cattle to their facilities to be BQAT certified.

Mike Trader’s Annual Mid-America Basketball Camp will conduct six individual sessions this summer. The overnight and commuter camps for boys and girls will be held on July 7-10 at Doane University.

Fifth graders from Elwood and Eustis-Farnam had a fantastic day at the Water Jamboree at Harlan County Reservoir recently! They explored water systems, learned about irrigation and filtration, discovered groundwater and aquifers.

BEAVER CITY – During the regular meeting on May 5, 2025, the city council discussed and acted on several items. Nate Fox of Fox Insurance Agency, who is the area agent for LARM (League Association of Risk Management), reviewed the recent insurance evaluation with council members.

Topping off another excellent year, the NCTA Crops Judging team retained their 1st place title in the Crops contest and added the top spot in Precision Agriculture at the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA) Judging Conference hosted by West Texas A&M in Canyon, Texas.

Aggie graduates and guests will hear new perspectives from honored guests and a farewell from Dr. Larry Gossen, dean, at the upcoming University of Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture commencement.

The 2025 Phelps-Gosper 4-H Public Speaking Contest took place Thursday, April 10, at the Elwood Civic Center. Four 4-H members showcased their communication skills by delivering speeches and public service announcements (PSAs) centered on the theme of 4-H. Linda Dannehl served as the judge for this year’s contest.

Cambridge City Council met in regular session on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. Council members Nora McGowen and Jeff Ommert were absent from the meeting.
