The Red Willow GOP (Republican Party) will meet on May 27, 2025, at Marlene’s Kitchen (38404 Road 719, McCook). Meet/Greet begins at 6:30 pm followed by the business meeting at 7:00 pm.

2025 Graduation commencements held Saturday

Graduates from Southwest High School, pictured above, were part of six area high schools that held commencement exercises Saturday, joining seniors from Cambridge, Elwood, Eustis-Farnam, Maywood, Medicine Valley and Southern Valley. A special salute to area graduates can be found in a special section inside. Scholarship information will be available in a future section.

LEBANON – The Nebraska State Patrol and the Red Willow County Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple calls regarding a two-vehicle crash on Highway 89 near Lebanon, on Saturday evening at approximately 8:00 p.m.

Accident Claims the Life of Maywood Teen

MAYWOOD – The Frontier County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene of an accident by a passerby on Road 749, east of Maywood, last Thursday, May 8, around 7:00 p.m. According to Sheriff Michael Jordan, the teenage victim of the one-vehicle accident was pronounced dead at the accident site.

Maywood to Welcome third Foreign Exchange teacher

During the Maywood School Board monthly meeting on May 12, the board accepted the resignation of English teacher Rachel Callis and approved the hiring of Lehandre Venter. Venter, a South African native, who is currently teaching in Panama, has impressive credentials that include serving as head school master in China for five years.
