Warmer weather has arrived and with it comes ticks. Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD) would like to remind everyone to stay safe from tick bites that can spread disease to humans.

SEWARD, NE (05/22/2025)-- Concordia University, Nebraska recently named 241 students to its honors list for the spring 2025 semester. Students who earn a 3.90 GPA or higher while also completing at least 12 credit hours during the semester qualify for this list.

ARAPAHOE – Before the last bell of the school year rang, Molly Blickenstaff of rural Hendley, was already looking ahead to the 20252026 school year. The mother of four Arapahoe- Holbrook Public Schools students, is excited about continually expanding the beef lunch program that she helped spearhead in November 2023.

On Friday, May 16, 2025, Furnas County Sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant at a residence located at 616 Butler Street in Cambridge, Nebraska. The warrant stemmed from a long-term financial crime investigation that included multiple subpoenas and an extensive review of financial records.

The Indianola City Council met on May 19 at 5:30 pm. After approving Old Business items, the council considered approval of a building permit for Ryan Kleist. Through a brief discussion, the council confirmed that all the necessary paperwork was in order before the proposed building permit was approved.

Beaver City Swimming Pool to open memorial Day Weekend

BEAVER CITY – During the bi-monthly meeting on May 19, Utilities Director Grant Jorgensen shared that all maintenance has been completed, and the pool will be ready for use by the upcoming weekend. Upon the recommendation of the building committee, the council approved the permit request for Lisa Reiser to build a storage unit, as well as requests from Steve Clason and Taylor Manley for fences on their respective properties.
