The Elwood Public Schools Board of Education met on Monday, April 14th, 2025. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m.

The American Legion Post is pleased to announce that the Maywood Lions Club generously sponsored Sawyer Dibbern of Maywood, who will join nearly 340 other high school juniors from across Nebraska participating in the American Legion Cornhusker Boys’ State Program, June 1-7, 2025, at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln downtown campus. The annual citizenship program, sponsored by the Nebraska American Legion, is designed to provide youths with a better understanding of how city, county, and state governments operate.

SCHOOL VACCINATIONS AND CHILDREN CATCH-UP IMMUNIZATIONS We are open M-F 8am-4pm for school immunizations and any catch-up immunizations your child may need. We are giving college (seniors), 7th grade, kindergarten, and all catch-up school vaccinations. Please call the office at 345-1790 for an appointment.

Hastings College and the Jackson Dinsdale Art Center (JDAC) invite high school juniors to apply for Open Space for the Visual Arts, a weeklong summer immersion program designed for current high school juniors passionate about art.

KEARNEY- Two Rivers Public Health Department has partnered with Nebraska Extension, University of Nebraska Medical Center, and the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center to host “Let’s Chat Cancer” and FREE cancer screenings on Tuesday April 22nd. This event is open to the public and will be held at the Regional Engagement Center in Kearney (2204 university Dr.) from 2:30 – 4:30pm.

Cambridge High School artist JoLie Farr received the Best of Show award Friday at the 50th anniversary of the McCook Community College Paint-In and Art Show Competition. In addition, four winners in each of seven categories were announced. This year there were 338 entries from 19 area high schools that competed in the event.

Bently Stubbs of Eustis has been selected to attend American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) Girls State. The nonpartisan political program teaches students about local, county, and state government.
