Arapahoe City Council approves Olsson contract

Body
The Arapahoe City Council approved a contract with Olssons as the street superintendent and engineer for 2025 during their regular meeting on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. Jess Hurlbert spoke with council about questions they had before moving forward. The questions pertained to a drainage issue that arose after the downtown revitalization project. Hurlbert showed the council survey images from prior to construction and after showing height differences. He also showed options to fix the problem. Hurlbert told the council that the project was the best he had ever been a part of and this issue was a black eye on it. The options were at a cost of $7,000 or $15,000. Council liked the $7,000 option as it did not cut through the street. They asked Hurlbert to get a firm estimate that could be approved at a later meeting.

Giving Trees up in the area

Body
Giving Trees are up in the area. The trees give area residents an opportunity to help those with children who may be in need this holiday season. In Oxford, the Giving Trees are sponsored by the Oxford Ministerial Association. There are tags on trees at South Central State Bank and at Village Mercantile. Those wanting to help are asked to choose a tag from the trees, purchase the gift listed on the tag, and return the wrapped gift to either Village Mercantile or the bank. The tag chosen must be attached to the wrapped gift.
