CITY CODES C = Cozad; F = Farnam; G = Gothenburg; L = Lexington; O = Overton Nineteen (19) Dawson County 4-H members participated in the 2026 4-H Public Speaking Contest Monday, March 23, at the Dawson County Extension Office in Lexington. Bluetooth Headphones, courtesy of county sponsor KRVN, were presented to the high individual in each of the three speech divisions and the top PSA entry. All 4-H members received $10 for participating in the contest, courtesy of Dawson County Banks. County ribbons were also presented to the participants.

Jurjens headed to American Legion Auxiliary Girls State

Shelby Rae Jurjens of Eustis has been seleced to attend American Legion Auxiliary Cornhusker Girls State May 31-June 6, 2026, on the campus of the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Jurjens was selected based on selection criteria through auxiliary unit adn or high school Jurjens will study local, county and state government processes in this nonpartisan political learning experience. Every spring, the American Legion Auxiliary Girls State Program provides approximately 25,000 young women with a hands-on educational opportunity designed to instruct tomorrow’s leaders in the privileges and duties of responsible citizenship.
