Cambridge Council encourages residents to limit watering lawns during drought

Cambridge City Council met in regular session on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. After the Pledge of Allegiance and the Open Meeting Law announcement, the Council approved the Consent Agenda, which included the minutes from the previous City Council meeting, the claims, the Library Board Minutes, as well as the Planning Commission Minutes, and Building Permits. Building Permits were issued to Williams Storage, Trinity Community Church, Tri Valley Health System, Patrick Horwart, Toby Webb, Larry and Mary Jo Young, Nebraska Corn Processing, and Troy Mousel.

As the heat starts to bring people out of the house and into the great outdoors, SWNPHD encourages residents to remember taking action to protect their skin now will help prevent skin cancer in the future. Skin cancer is one of the top 5 most common forms of cancer found in southwest Nebraska every year. There have been 155 cases of melanoma of skin in the health district between 2013 and 2023.

HASTINGS, Neb. (May 11, 2026) - Hastings College held its 140th Commencement on Saturday, May 9, 2026, awarding degrees to 190 undergraduates and seven Master of Arts in Teaching graduates. Graduates represented 21 states and nine countries.
