Work will begin on Holbrook to Arapahoe East

Weather permitting, work is scheduled to begin April 17th., 2026, from Holbrook to Arapahoe on US-6 from Reference Post 120.63 to Reference Post 130.52, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

This cute Easter Bunny stopped for a photo on Saturday during the Easter Egg Hunt in the Arapahoe park. The younger ages had their hunt at Prairie Pines. Dallas Garey won the Chamber of Commerce Epic Easter basket. Items in the basket were donated by business members of the Chamber of Commerce.

Edison Easter Egg Hunt

The Edison Easter Egg Hunt was held on Friday evening at 5:00 p.m. at the Edison Park. Several kids came and took part in the hunt as well as taking photos with the Easter bunny. Some lucky hunters, received a movie pass to the Crystal Theater or a $1 coin from First Central Bank besides the usual candy found in every egg.

Cambridge Board approves $74,425 for walking trail lighting

Cambridge City Council met in regular session on Monday, April 6, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. Council member Ronda Cross was absent from the meeting. After the Pledge of Allegiance and the Open Meeting Law Announcement, the council approved the Consent Agenda. The Consent Agenda included the minutes from the previous City Council meeting, the claims, the Cambridge Rescue meeting minutes, the Cambridge Museum Board meeting minutes, and the approval of Barb Stoddard and Weston Rich to the Planning Commission for three-year terms.

Cambridge students selected to attend Cornhusker Girls’ and Boys’ State

Cambridge, NE - Jaidon Kimball, a junior at Cambridge Public Schools, has been selected to attend American Legion Auxiliary Cornhusker Girls State on the campus of the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Kimball will study local, county, and state government processes in this nonpartisan political learning experience. Joslyn Holtze was selected as the first alternate, and Brooklyn Holze was selected as the second alternate for the position.

Drought intensifies with precipitation chances scarce

The U.S. Drought Monitor is published weekly by the National Drought Mitigation Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The latest update shows that areas of extreme drought have doubled in Nebraska. Locally, light precipitation fell last week and forecasts early this week showed chances again this weekend, but those have dwindled. The chart below compares the latest observations to those of recent past.
