CAMBRIDGE - Since 1968 the United Methodist Church (UMC) has had conflicting viewpoints on how the Bible should be interpreted. In 2023, the Cambridge United Methodist Church was left with few options, which included remaining with the UMC conference, joining the new Global Methodist Conference, or becoming independent. Those churches that wanted to disaffiliate from the UMC had the option to buy back their property which was, “held in trust” by the UMC.
