The 2024 Holbrook Carp Shoot was held on June 6th with lots of shooting action. Winning the event was Brock and Dyllan Mowry with 285.5 lbs. Second was Mike and Cody Broomfield with 259.5 lbs. and in third was Jake Whipple and Jesse Alexander with 186 lbs. Six kids also shot in the event with Amos Klinkebiel winning with 21.8 lbs, second was Bryer Mowry with 15.4lbs, third was Lane Stanton with 9 lbs, fourth Colyns Mowry with 2.56, T5 was Brigs Vontz and Mason Hager with 0 lbs. Large carp was taken by Wayne Vontz weighing in at 12.54 lbs and Small Carp was Braden Hadwiger at 2.01 lbs.

The 2024 Turkey Days couldn’t have planned for better weather than what the Oxford area had during the town’s annual celebration. Temperatures stayed in the 70’s with a lot of cloud cover. The incoming storms even skirted the town.

CURTIS - On Friday, June 7th, Curtis held their annual Community Banquet. The late Kelly Kotschwar was recognized with the Posthumous Award, and Kevin Brown won the Citizen of the Year Award.

The Cambridge Public School Board held a meeting last Monday, June 10th in the school’s auditorium at 7 PM. The main topics discussed were the Wilkins Architecture Design Planning facilities assessment and the first reading of a potential school cell phone policy.

Oxford’s 2024 Turkey Days begins on Thursday, June 6 with a pool tournament, The Longbranch Cup, at 7 pm at The Longbranch. The tournament starts off the 67th celebration.

Turkeys were once big business in the little town of Oxford, Nebraska. Hundreds of thousands of them; perhaps millions were raised and shipped out of little Oxford, Nebraska.
