LINCOLN - Four Southwest FFA Chapter members received state degrees at the 2024 State FFA Convention in Lincoln. The convention took place from April 3rd-5th.

LINCOLN - The Medicine Valley FCCLA Chapter had much success at this year's State Leadership Conference in Lincoln on April 7th-9th. Harper Watkins was the state runner-up in Chapter in Review Display.

LINCOLN - The Southern Valley FCCLA Chapter competed at the State Leadership Conference in Lincoln on April 7th-9th. Sarah Holtse placed third in the STAR Baking and Pastry Event, and her chapter mate Brooklyn Santifer placed fourth.

LINCOLN - Elwood's FCCLA Chapter took home hardware from the State Leadership Conference in Lincoln on April 7th-9th. Kara Brockman was the State Champion in Focus on Children, qualifying her for nationals later this year.

KEARNEY - The Southern Valley FBLA Chapter traveled to Kearney April 11th-13th to compete in the State Leadership Conference. At FBLA SLC, students compete in business events and programs.

KEARNEY - The Maywood FBLA Chapter participated at the State Leadership Conference in Kearney on April 11th-13th. Dallas Grunden, Raelene Lanning, and Maddie Merritt placed eighth in the state with their Partnership with Business Project.

The Red Willow County GOP (Republican Party) meets Tuesday, April 23, 2024, for their regular monthly meeting. All area Republicans are invited and encouraged to attend the meeting at Bedore Barn/Marlene’s Kitchen (38404 RD 719, McCook, NE). Newly elected Chairman, Brenden Funk, will conduct the meeting. Meet/Greet begins at 6:30 pm followed by the business meeting at 7:00 pm.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Region 7, which includes Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska is participating in a national high-visibility enforcement effort, April 4-8, 2024, to deter distracted driving. Law enforcement officers in region 7 and across the country will work together to enforce texting and distracted- driving laws and remind drivers: Put the Phone Away or Pay. This effort comes during April, which is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month.
