25 Years Ago November 20, 1997 The Southern Valley Eagles fell 15-10, 15-6 to no. 1 rated Columbus Scotus in the opening round of the state volleyball tournament in Lincoln on Friday and wind up the season with a 19-8 record.

Beaver City Council Approves Infrastructure Improvements

BEAVER CITY – The city council held a public hearing prior to their regular meeting on November 21, 2022. The council passed Resolution 2202-9 as part of the USDA 6-year street plan. Specifically, item M 140(8) provides for a deeper drainage tube because of tree roots near Q and 7th streets and M 140 (9) provides for curb and guttering to be laid on the north side between 10th and 11th Streets. Both infrastructure projects will be completed during the next year.

10 years ago The Arapahoe Public Elementary Quiz Bowl received second place in the Holdrege competition recently. Members include Branigan Schaben, Carson Schroeder, Colton Hearn, Alivia Wasenius, Gentry Anderson, John Lee, Mariah Watson, and Destiny Miller.

10 years ago New Postmaster at Cambridge is Marilyn Hunter of McCook, Nebraska on November 8, 2012. She worked 16 years in McCook before becoming postmaster at Bartley for six years.

10 years ago Making posters for the District FCCLA conference held at McCook Community College were Lexie Remmenga and Krissy Elliott. Krissy earned top poster placement in the district and Lexie came in second.

10 years ago At the Bartley Village Board meeting the Board agreed that a standard width sidewalk would be suffi cient between the Post Office and the lumberyard is broken up, rough and dangerous. Costs for a new sidewalk will be obtained and possible cost sharing between the Village and property owners discussed.
