The Arapahoe Rehab & Fitness held their open house on Friday with over 100 people coming to check out the new building and enjoy pulled pork sandwiches, chips and cookies. Around 30 memberships were sold that day but you can still purchase memberships during business hours. There were two drawings held and Barb Powell won 4 free personal training sessions and Jerry Schroeder won the massage gun. Five lucky winners getting a t- shirt and shaker bottle were Joetta Glanzer, Kurt DeVries, Marilyn Martin, Evan Jones and Linda Hamel. Thirty community groups in the Elwood Area are taking part in the 3rd Annual Give BIG Elwood on November 10th, 2022. This 24-hour day of giving is hosted by the Lexington Community Foundation in conjunction with Give LINCOLN – Gosper County has received another membership dividend, this time in the amount of $2,708, from the Nebraska Intergovernmental Risk Management Association II (NIRMA II), the county’s workers’ compensation coverage and risk management services provider. The dividend was part of a half-million dollar distribution shared with 81 Nebraska counties and eight countyassociated agencies during NIRMA’s annual membership conference Oct. 20-21 in Kearney.

St. John’s Altar Society to Host Humanities Nebraska Speaker at Fall Brunch

Cambridge – St John’s Altar Society invites all ladies in our area to be our guest at our annual fall brunch. Our speaker, Mike McCracken, will present the program “American Roots Music and the Resophonic Guitar” on Saturday November 12, 2022 at 9:30 am at St. John’s Catholic Church Parish Hall in Cambridge. Tri Valley Medical Foundation to Participate in Big Give McCook

The Tri Valley Medical Foundation will be participating in this year’s McCook Big Give event. Big Give McCook is a 24-hour period of giving where McCook area supporters are invited to give back to their favorite local charities as well as educate themselves on other non-profits available within the community. The event will run from midnight to midnight on Thursday, November 3rd. This year the Tri Valley Medical Foundation will be raising funding for a new ultrasound table.

Oxford and Beaver City both had downtown events for Halloween on Monday. Oxford’s Chamber of Commerce sponsored their annual hot dog feed and train rides with businesses and other groups open to trick or treaters. The Evangelical Free Church also held their annual trunk or treat in their parking lot.

Crop Input Costs, Drought, Top Concerns for Nebraska Farmers, Ranchers

LINCOLN, NEB. – The drought, crop inputs, and other farm costs expected in 2023 are top of mind concerns for farmers and ranchers across Nebraska according to a non-scientific poll conducted by Nebraska Farm Bureau. According to the survey, producers’ top concerns over the next year continue to be input prices (35%), followed by drought (32%), supply chain disruptions (20%), and crop and livestock prices (11%). “It is abundantly clear rising input costs, and the drought are among the top stories for Nebraska agriculture this year. Rising costs clearly impact the current and future financial health of agriculture and it will eventually trickle down and impact Nebraska’s economy.
