100 Years Ago August 17, 1922 The Blue Valley mercantile house is fast going up. The bricklaying has already reached the top of the ground. More than 15 men are employed in the construction. The company expects to occupy the building in about eight weeks.

ARAPAHOE – The Arapahoe Holbrook School Board held their first meeting for the 2022-2023 school year on Monday, August 8, 2022; the same day that teachers officially reported to work. The Finance Committee met prior to the regular meeting. Most of the discussion and action items were centered around issues pertinent to the beginning of the school year.

This past week’s visitors of Dee Glanzer were Jay and Kelly Rodriguez and Madison of San Diego, CA. On Thursday they went to Pioneer Village in Minden and also visited her grandsons Brooks and Bronson Glanzer. On Saturday, Craig and Sandy Sowards and his grandchildren Jade and Ryder of Norton came for dinner. On Sunday, they all went to Craig and Sandy’s for dinner in Norton.

Men’s coffee hour was held in the Prairie Pines dining room on Monday morning including Prairie Pines men and others of the community. Lelia Haussler and other residents of Prairie Pines attended Pastor Moshier’s Bible Study on Tuesday morning.

Virginia Cookson had a surprise visit last week from Opal Coakley and her son Roger Coakley of Texas. Virginia taught Roger in 1951 at the New Era Country School.

Thursday, August 11: Hamburger steak, mashed potatoes/ gravy, corn, fluffy fruit salad. Friday, August 12: Lemon fish, wild rice, green beans, apple crisp.
