The Indianola Alumni 1891–1969 met August 11, 2022 at St Catherine’s Church Hall, with a total of 46 attendees, including members, spouses, and guests traveling from several states to join us. We were sorry that an additional 5 expected attendees were ill this week and could not come.

Beaver City to Vote on Use of Sales Tax Funds

BEAVER CITY – The Beaver City Council met on August 15, 2022, for their regular board meeting and covered several agenda items during their almost two-hour meeting. The council approved Resolution 2022-2 that will put a measure on the November ballot regarding the use of the one percent sales and use tax that currently is used for economic development. Drafted by City Attorney, Lisa Shifflet, the measure would allocate the funds for the City Infrastructure Program for Construction, Repair, Replacement, and /or Maintenance of Municipal and Equipment including the City Fire and Rescue Department. Funds that have previously been allotted for economic development would remain in that account to be utilized by business owners for low interest loans and matching grants.

Cambridge Council approves returning Kester Field to its original layout

Cambridge City Council met in regular session on Monday, August 15, 2022. Derek Raburn was absent from the meeting. Council approved the Consent Agenda Items. John Kutnink said he didn’t have much to present about the ambulance, but he did notify Council they will have to declare the old ambulance surplus in the coming months. Council also approved the July and August Library meeting minutes as submitted. Council then discussed the Museum Board Meeting Minutes from the July meeting. Council member Vernita Saylor asked the Board members to submit their minutes with last names. The minutes were approved as submitted. Utilities Supervisor Dave Houghtelling reported the street lights in the cul-de-sac in Harvest Meadows have been installed. He also said the work ethic campers ran weed eaters while in town last week and got many things (Continued to Page 4) cleaned up in the park and in the cemetery. Houghtelling also said he would like to budget for street signs. They pulled the backup well that wasn’t working and sent a video of what was happening inside the well. The inside of the well looks okay, but there is a pile of gravel at the bottom. Not sure what’s going on yet, but he will have costs once Sargent looks at the video.

10 years ago Jo Lewis was hired as temporary administrative assistant in Cambridge last week and is taking the place of Brittany Korana. The Cambridge School is planning a Be Brave Addison Benefit at the Community Building on August 21.
