Tri Valley Health System adds Telestroke/Acute Neurology Services

Tri Valley Health System is expanding services, providing local, around-the- clock treatment for stroke patients through telemedicine. Telestroke/Acute Neurology services will be available for patients starting Monday, August 8. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a stroke hits someone in the United States every 40 seconds, and early action is critical. Patients who receive appropriate care with (Continued to Page 6) in three hours have a greater survival rate. They also suffer from less disability – such as loss of mobility – three months after the stroke than those who received delayed care.

ELWOOD – Ryan Jones officially began his new job on July 25 and says that he is looking forward to serving as Elwood’s K-12 Principal. He spent 19 years as a 7-12 History teacher and the past seven years as the Activities Director of the Maxwell School District.

TeamMates Mentoring co-founder Tom Osborne and TeamMates CEO DeMoine Adams gratefully accepted a most generous donation from the Jim and Sharri Baldonado Family, The Home Agency, and BHA Real Estate on Monday, August 8, 2022, in Lexington, Nebraska. The three-year commitment to TeamMates Mentoring was given to support 128 rural and non-Lincoln and non-Omaha metro Nebraska TeamMates Chapters, which includes more than 5,000 TeamMates mentees, grades 3-12. The donation will cover a major portion of each Chapter’s operating expenses such as participation fees (vary per school), annual match support ($450) and background checks ($30, required for every mentor at each chapter).

Josh Lanik will start the 2022-2023 school year as the 7 – 12 principal at Southern Valley. Lanik will be living in Orleans with his wife Stephanie and two boys Max and Miles. Max will be a sixth grader and Miles in fourth. Both will be attending Southern Valley.

Public Law 94-142 and Rules 51 and 54 mandate that a free and appropriate public education be available for each handicapped child, ages 0-21. Handicapped children are those defined as handicapped physically, visually, speech, orthopedically, mentally, specific learning disabled, behaviorally, multi-handicappped, home or hospital bound and whose handicap requires special services or education.
