Lexington, NE – Lexington Regional Health Center (LRHC) is excited to announce the arrival of the first baby born in 2026! On January 3, 2026, at 1:26 PM, Emma Yolanda Aguilar Roas made her debut into the world. Emma weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces and measured 20 inches long.

Primary election filing has begun

Candidate filing for this May’s Nebraska Primary Election began on Monday. All incumbents candidates, except for those who serve on Village Boards, who choose to run for their office again are required to file their candidacy by Tuesday, February 17.

January is radon action Month

Radon Action Month, observed in January each year, is aimed at raising awareness about radon gas and its health risks. Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD) works to educate the public about radon, how it is formed, where it can be found, and the health risks associated with any exposure. Many people are unaware of radon and its dangers, so this month provides an opportunity to share important information.

Maywood NHS sponsor school-wide food drive

The Maywood National Honor Society sponsored a school-wide food drive for the Frontier County Pantry. Through the efforts of the school and community, they were able to reach their goal of collecting 1,000 items. Thanks to everyone supporting the drive.
