Hamre’s body recovered in rural Furnas County

OXFORD - A body discovered in a rural area north of Oxford Wednesday was confirmed to be that of Jerica Hamre, a woman that had been reported missing by the Lincoln Police Department in July 2024. The body was discovered Wednesday on a rural farm in northeast Furnas County, north of Oxford.

Cambridge Lions Club Christmas project

Thank you to the Cambridge community for the support shown during the Lions Club Christmas project! Cambridge Lions have been organizing this event for over 50 years and this year was able to provide food, toys, personal care kits and gift cards to 50 families in Cambridge community and the surrounding area. Their partners from the Holbrook Lions and the Indianola Knights of Columbus helped with the delivery in their communities on Saturday morning and the Cambridge Supermarket staff packed all the food boxes. The gifts were sure to make the holiday season a little brighter for everyone!

Campbell graduates from Bryan College of Health Sciences

LINCOLN, Neb. – Bryan College of Health Sciences announces the graduating class of December 19, 2025. One will be graduating with a Doctor of Education, fifteen with a Master of Science in Nursing, two with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences, nine with a Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, and twenty-two with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Graduation will be held at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 1144 M Street, Lincoln, NE 68508 on December 19, 2025 at 5:30 pm.

Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD) has received reports of Influenza A cases in the health district and is seeing influenza (the flu) starting to go around Nebraska and in many parts of the United States. Flu activity usually increases in the fall and winter, and we are now beginning to see more cases.

Southwest Elementary Christmas program was held recently with (top) Preschool, (middle) K-1st grade and (right) 2nd-3rd grades singing “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas”. Parents, grandparents and friends enjoyed the show.
