Each year, District Nine of the Nebraska American Legion selects a member with a long and distinguished record of service for its Cornerstone Award. Part of the certificate reads, “by providing service to post, community and state above and beyond expected duties.”

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Service Centers in Furnas and Red Willow counties are hosting a disaster assistance workshop on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at 5 p.m. at the Cambridge Public High School gymnasium in Cambridge. The meeting is intended for farmers, ranchers and rural landowners impacted by the recent Road 702 wildfire. The event is open to the public.

10 years ago Open house for Bartley’s new Fire Barn filled with the Village and Rural fire equipment was displayed and tours given Saturday night. Bartley residents were also treated to a meal served by the firemen and their wives.

The Nebraska Corn Board (NCB) and Nebraska Corn Growers Association (NeCGA), collectively known as Nebraska Corn, are thankful U.S. drivers will have continued access to E15. President Joe Biden announced the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) would issue a national, emergency waiver to allow the fuel to be sold this summer. Without the waiver, retailers would’ve been unable to sell E15 from June 1 through Sept. 15 across most of the country.
