10 years ago Pheasants Forever held their 2001 Memorial Shootout last Saturday with the day beginning with a blue rock shoot followed by 18 holes of golf at the Arapahoe Golf Course. Cooper Bering, son of Dennis and Kelly Breinig Cooper Bering, son of Dennis and Kelly Breinig of Arapahoe showed his Grand Champion Market Steer at the Nebraska State Fair in Lincoln.

10 years ago The Gosper County Senior Center held a picnic in the park at noon on Friday. Rose Mary Debban made ice cream floats for the Senior Center’s picnic.

10 years ago Jessica Porter, Kassidy McConville, Michael Brodd, Helen Solberg, and Taylor Brooks told of their experiences at 2011 Girls State and Boys State Sunday night at a joint meeting of the American Legion and Auxiliary Units from Indianola, Bartley, Danbury and Lebanon. Southwest girls had a very good day last Monday at Alma, placing 1st as a team with 20 points.

10 years ago Hundreds of people turned out to support the family of Cambridge’s Justin Hamel last Friday by taking part in a free-will offering cook-out before the Cambridge and Southern Valley football game. Hamel was injured in a motorcycle accident in late July.

Thank you, dear family and friends, for visiting Mom, bringing gifts, singing with her, and sending greeting cards as she was in the hospital. Also, many thanks for the outpouring of love and support after Mom passed. The numerous cards, flowers, memorial money, stamps, books, meals, and personal visits helped provide comfort.

Visitors of Emma Crawford Thursday, September 9th through September 13th were her sister-in-law, Joyce Bush of Great Falls, MT and Emma’s daughter, Marilin Crawford of Lincoln, NE. On Thursday evening for Emma’s 102nd birthday celebration were John and Julie Crawford of Arapahoe, Marv and Becky Crawford of Johnson Lake, Joyce and Marilin. On Friday, Emma’s birthday was celebrated at Prairie Pines. Cherry Wulf and son, Easton were in attendance along with Joyce, Marilin and Julie. Friday evening festivities were at John and Julie’s home in Arapahoe. Additional attendees included Kola Crawford, Jonna Metzger, Luke Tenhoff of Kearney and Sarah Crawford Gallentina, husband Jess and daughters Addison, Cinsley and Dayton. Nathy Ahrens attended all activities. Marv and Becky Crawford also attended.

The residents of Sunshine Village are patiently waiting the opening of their new parking lot. It is beautiful and a great assset to their homes.

Connie Graning, Scott Graning, and Teresa Vaughn attended the funeral for Connie’s cousin, James Foster of Hillsdale, WY. He passed away unexpectedly on September 3rd. The funeral service was in Stamford on Saturday morning.
