25 Years Ago-July 4, 1996 A Prestige Transportation, Inc. tour bus turned over four miles east and one mile south of Beaver City last Wednesday.

100 Years Ago - July 11, 1921 Noon McMurran was accidently shot in the roof of the mouth with the bullet coming out just over the left eye. He was cleaning a gun when the accident happened.

10 years ago Wes and Shirley Smith visit with Cheryl Chambers at the annual Patriotic Service held Sunday evening in the Arapahoe City Park. Ruth Haarberg and her well-qualified staff handled the quilt show check with 45 quilts on display.

10 years ago Shasta Hilker attended the FCCLA’s National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California and took a gold medal and perfect score in the “Teach and Train” competition. Last Friday Carol Streit retired from her work at Northwestern Mutual after 19 years.

10 years ago Members of the Carnival Association served hamburgers, brats, potato salad, beans, and watermelon for those who came out to the Fairgrounds on July 4 th . The United Methodist Church will have a guest speaker, Jennifer Brand, and she attends the Nazarene Bible College in Colorado.

10 years ago A three vehicle accident one mile east of McCook on Highway 6 & 34 resulted in the death of Indianola resident Jimmy Sughroue. He was riding in a vehicle driven by his wife, Romona who had slowed down because of a pickup did not slow down in time was turning left rear-ended the Sughroue vehicle.

Residents of Sunshine Village gathered together on June 30th to honor Cindy Haussler and Diane McCoy as they retire after several years working for the Arapahoe Housing Authority. Cindy Haussler was hired as the Executive Director of Arapahoe Housing Authority on August 1, 1983. She successfully served in her position for 38 years! That is a great accomplishment and a testimony to her people skills and management expertise.

Pool Cool is returning to Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD) after being put on hold several years ago. This program works with swimming pool staff to provide education about skin cancer and ways to prevent it.

The residents of Sunshine Village held a Retirement Party honoring Cindy Haussler and Diane McCoy on their last day of work, June 30th. The Blue Room was beautifully decorated with the center of attention being the cake table. The residents living there the longest acted as hostess with greeting and serving the cake and punch. A fun evening was had.
