LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is encouraging the public’s participation in its annual summer turkey survey July 1-Aug.

LINCOLN, Neb. —Director Jim Douglas recently was honored with the Sagamore of the Forest, Fields and Streams award for his contributions to the Midwest Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (MAFWA), as well as for his leadership of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.

LINCOLN, NE (July 1, 2021) - Nebraska Cattlemen (NC) sincerely thanks Congressman Jeff Fortenberry for his continued leadership as the ranking member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, and Food and Drug (FDA). Last night, the House Appropriations Committee approved the 2022 Agriculture Appropriations Bill. This measure would establish funding for essential components of rural vitality, innovation and food security that fall directly in line with Nebraska Cattlemen’s membership policies.

Week July 12 – July16 Monday – Salmon, deluxe potato, mixed vegetables, fruit cocktail, wheat bread. Tuesday – Fried chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy, carrots, cherry bar dessert, wheat bread.

Harvest is in full swing! It seemed like it was taking forever for it to dry down. The foggy mornings haven’t helped. The combines can’t start rolling very early in the mornings but its full speed ahead when the dew dries. Specific yields haven’t been reported, but general comments range from “really good” to “not so good”. It will be awhile before official yields can be figured, as many of the terraces have standing water and won’t be cut until later.

For her 100th birthday, Goldene Burton’s one wish was to take a motorcycle ride. On her 100th birthday Monday, she did just that, strolling through Cambridge with Loyd White while also accompanied by her nephew Mike Burton.
