The Arapahoe Fire and Rescue Department

Body
The Arapahoe Fire and Rescue Department recently purchased two child restraints that can strap to the cot for safer transportation of children during a pediatric emergency. The restraints are adjustable for children weighing 10lbs to 100lbs. The department’s child sized CPR mannequin is demonstrating how the restraint can be adjusted to fit a 5-7 year old child. The child restraints were purchased using money donated by the family of the late Dorris Crosley. Two restraints were purchased so that each ambulance would have a child restraint available. Unlike standard car seats, these will not expire and should not need to be replaced for many years. Rescue team learning how to use the restraint were (l-r) Gloria Harmon, Peter Leising, Frank Leising, John Paulsen, Josh Schrock, Stefanie Hoefs, Amy Huxoll and Brandon Yeager.
