State School Board President to speak at the GOP meeting Oct.19

The Republican Party of District #305 (comprised of Phelps, Furnas, Red Willow, Frontier, Hitchcock, Gosper, Hayes, Chase, and Dundy counties) will meet on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at 2:00 pm in Wilsonville, NE. The meeting will be held at the Wilsonville Community Building (207 Dearborn, former Methodist Church, blue metal roof).

The 37th Annual Life Chain was held October 5, 2025 in Arapahoe, NE at the intersection of Hwy 6/34 and 283 with local participants in attendance. The one hour peaceful vigil was held in silent prayer to witness to our beliefs in the sanctity of ALL life. Life Chain is a peaceful and prayerful public witness of pro-life individuals praying for our nation and for the end of abortion. Those of all faiths and ages are encouraged every year on the 1st Sunday in October to stand with thousands of Pro-Life individuals throughout the US and Canada to recognize the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death.

Oxford Board discusses dog ordinances

The Village of Oxford Board of Trustees met on Monday, October 13 at 5:30 pm for their regular meeting. On the agenda was discussion on dog ordinances, wages, and updates from Bobbi Pettit with Five Rule Rural Development.

Oxford boy returns home after dog attack

OXFORD - After a week’s stay in an Omaha hospital healing from injuries from a dog attack, Oxford 7-year-old Drake Schellpeper returned home Thursday to a welcome from family and friends. Schellpeper went out riding his scooter on the afternoon of October 2.
Oxford’s Drake Schellpeper is welcomed home by family and friends last week after a week-long stay in the hospital.

Benson talks to board about dissolving Wednesday activities

The Cambridge Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, October 13th at 7:00 p.m. All board members were present for the meeting. Guests included Jason Benson, Abbie Benson, MadaLynn Benson, Zack Neilson, Bart Deterding, and Jerrell Alexander. After the Pledge of Allegiance and the Open Meeting Laws Announcement, the board opened the floor for public comment.

Heritage Antique Tractor Club visits Holtze farm

Kenny and Carla Holtze hosted the Heritage Antique Tractor Club of McCook on Saturday, September 27. There were about 15 tractors on display, including 2 Allis Chalmers, a Minneapolis, a Farmall, a Bolens, an Oliver, and a bunch of the other green ones.
