The calendar says it’s almost October, but this week is feeling more like May. How can you beat temps in the 70’s and 80’s? Especially after the soaking rains. And speaking of the rains, lots of places have had way too much, but here on The Hill, we have been blessed with several really nice rains. And now Mother Nature is giving us a few days to dry the fields a bit so the wheat drills can get the next crop in the ground.

Barnes speaks of Jesse James

Body
CURTIS – On Sunday, September 28, members and guests of Frontier County Historical Society enjoyed a program at the Curtis Community Building sponsored by Humanities Nebraska. The speaker was Jeff Barnes. His love of history was apparent as he presented his program entitled Jesse James in Nebraska, a bad man in the good life. Although James centered his life near Kearney, Missouri, all learned that he did indeed spend time in Nebraska, whether evading the law or looking for a future. Barnes is a former newspaper reporter and editor, trustee with the Nebraska State Historical Society, past chairman of the Nebraska Hall of Fame Commission and former marketing director for the Durham Museum. He is the author of multiple history books.
