LINCOLN - Today, Governor Jim Pillen appointed Chawnta Durham of North Platte as district court judge in the 11th Judicial District. That district includes Arthur, Chase, Dawson, Dundy, Frontier, Furnas, Gosper, Hayes, Hitchcock, Hooker, Keith, Lincoln, Logan, McPherson, Perkins, Red Willow, and Thomas counties.

BEAVER CITY - A mail-in election wrapped up Tuesday for Cambridge Public School’s proposed $13.2 million building project. With nearly 70 percent of voters responding, the bond issue was rejected by a vote of 482-280.

MAYWOOD – During the August 12 meeting, the school board approved the district taking part in a new pilot program offered through Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Omaha for the 20252026 school year.

While it’s taken a bit to get here, when Russ and Lisa Gerlach and their family opened Sandy Hill Meats in Maywood a couple weeks ago, it was like fulfilling a longtime ambition. Russ Gerlach, who relocated his family to rural Wellfl eet years ago from southeast Nebraska, has always wanted to operate his own butcher shop.

ARAPAHOE – The Arapahoe Public School Board met on August 11 with all six members present. Elementary Principal Ben Ellis reported that the school is hosting an Open House, complete with hot dogs and chips, on August 13, the day before students arrive back in school for the academic year.

The Indianola Alumni 1891–1969 met August 7, 2025 at St. Catherine’s Church Hall, with a total of 44 attendees, including graduates, spouses, and guests. Our theme depicted all forms of travel - “Traveling to Alumni” via Planes, Trains, and Automobiles”!
