Hall meetings & interim Rates planned in Black Hills Energy Rate Case

Lincoln, July 28, 2025 The Nebraska Public Service Commission (PSC) reminds consumers that beginning August 1, Black Hills Energy will begin charging higher rates for its natural gas customers in Nebraska. The interim rate increase is in conjunction with the company’s rate case (NG-124) currently before the Commission.

Cambridge Area Rotary Club hear about RYLA Camp

Cambridge Area Rotary Club sent three attendees to the Great Plains RYLA Camp, July 7 – 11, 2025. They had the participants come to a meeting before they went to camp and visit with the club and tell them why they chose to apply for the camp. This week, Matthew and Kassidy came back to their meeting and told about their experiences at the camp. They both said it was a once in a lifetime experience and they highly recommend any upcoming Sophomores or Juniors from area schools to apply in March 2026 for next summer’s camp. Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD) will be offering Vaccines for Children at public clinics in August. Anyone two months of age and older are invited to get their vaccinations. School and college will be starting soon so now is the perfect time to get your kindergartner, 7th grader, college student, or any child who may be behind on their shots up to date before school starts.

More than 700 Hereford juniors were entered to exhibit cattle, compete in educational contests and participate in leadership events.

Hay permit applications accepted onlne beginning July 30

July 23, 2025 (Lincoln, Neb.) — The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) has announced hay harvesting permit applications for the public will be accepted through an online application portal beginning July 30 at 12:01 a.m. CST. Individuals must have a permit to harvest hay on State Right of Way.

West Nile Virus Positive Blood Donor

A positive blood donor case of West Nile Virus has been reported to Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD) in the nine-county health district. A blood donor case means that the virus was found after a person donated blood; all donated blood is tested for West Nile Virus and many other diseases to make sure it is safe to use.
