CURTIS – The 2025 FCCLA National Leadership Conference (NLC) took place in Orlando, FL, from July 5-9, 2025, drawing more than 10,000 students, educators, and guests from across the nation. Brittin Fink, Josslyn Stewart, Sophie Trimble, Madisyn White, and Khloe Woods, members of the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Chapter at Medicine Valley Schools attended.

Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department’s (SWNPHD) annual Walk to Health Team Challenge 2025 was recently completed. The program lasted for 12 weeks and included 127 residents of all ages.

Two Nominees Forwarded for District Court Judge in the 11th Judicial District

LINCOLN, NE – Today, the Judicial Nominating Commission for the District Court Judge in the 11th Judicial District provided the following two names for consideration by Governor Jim Pillen: Chawnta M Durham of North Platte and Terry L VanEaton of Lexington. The 11th Judicial District consists of Arthur, Chase, Dawson, Dundy, Frontier, Furnas, Gosper, Hayes, Hitchcock, Hooker, Keith, Lincoln, Logan, McPherson, Perkins, Red Willow, and Thomas counties. The vacancy is due to the resignation of Judge Matthew Neher.

Several new Faces Joining arapahoe public schools staff this Year

ARAPAHOE – The Arapahoe School Board held their regular meeting on July 14. The district will welcome several new teachers this year: Brandi Schutz (4th) grade, Carina Atterberry (6th grade), Lana Durbin (team teacher for 1st and 3rd grades), Deb McDonald (Special Ed) is returning, Mark Messner (5th and 6th grade band), Martha Bergquist (English), Ryan Pettis (Business).

Sander sworn into oxford Village Board

Rocky Sander was sworn in as a new board member during the Oxford Board of Trustees meeting on Monday, July 14 at 5:30 pm. Sander will fill the remaining term of Chad Cunningham. Cunningham resigned from the board due to a move.

Arapahoe City Council Approves utilities increase

ARAPAHOE - During the July 15 City Council meeting, members of the museum board addressed the council regarding the condition of the museum building and possible remedies for repair and upkeep. The council approved two building permits upon the recommendation of the planning commission for a gardening shed, and a fence and pool deck.
