A nice meal was shared at Senior Living Choices Community on Monday celebrating National Centenarian Day! A person who is 100 years of age is a Centenarian. Senior Living Choices has a current resident that is 102 years of age her name is Marian Davis. Marian’s friend Doug Baker who is 101 years of age drove himself to eat a nice lunch with Marian. Doug and Marian went to school together many years ago. Doug states they were in the same class. What a special day to have 2 centenarians eating together in Senior Living Choices Community dining room! Life is good!

Cold and flu season will be arriving soon, including Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) which is most common during the fall and winter months. Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD) encourages residents to get their RSV vaccinations early in October before the RSV season begins. RSV season usually starts in October and lasts through March.

State Senator Teresa Ibach (District 44) has been named the recipient of the Nebraska Early Childhood Policy Champion Award, presented by First Five Nebraska during the Thriving Children, Families and Communities conference on September 16. The award honors Senator Ibach’s exceptional leadership and steadfast advocacy for early childhood education across the state.

The Frontier Stitchers Quilt Guild decided to make comfort quilts as their community project for 2025. Each member was to make one or more quilts to donate to the Frontier County Sheriff’s department for them to have on hand for emergency situations. (Grand Island, Neb.) – Central Community College students Jessica Braun of Holbrook and Chloe Smith of Kearney have been named 2025 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholars. They will each receive a $1,000 scholarship.
