Career Caravan/Connect the Dots Event

Body
Monday’s Career Caravan/Connect the Dots Event for AHS sophomores. The event started with area business representatives giving brief talks about what specific jobs are available in their areas and what qualities are needed to make it in each industry. The reps were selected by the results of the students interest and skill inventories. (Angie Moore, Kristi Wendland, Mitzi Urbom, Trish Maaske, Todd Eichenberger, Deanna Carmazen, Helena Perks and Diana Watson were the presenters.) After lunch, Marcy DeJonge of the UNL Extension guided the students through sessions on resume building, networking and skills ranking/selection. It was a mini version of a fall workshop that was cancelled because of COVID-19. The sophomores may have been overloaded with information but they definitely have a foundation from which to begin thinking about their futures.
