We are open to in-house meals and as long as our Gosper County numbers stay down we can remain open. The Gosper County Senior Center will continue to serve meals for delivery or pick-up for the month of April, but if you are out and about at other daily activities then pick –up meals will be limited. We are following the guidelines that WCNAAA has suggested for our Center. Please call the Senior Center at 785-2500 if you have questions. Thanks for your continued support. The pool table is open; the exercise bikes are humming; there is a puzzle out on the table and the dominos have been polished! Hope to see your smiling face here soon. On the 21 we will have board meeting at 8:00 a.m. and we will celebrate April birthdays and anniversaries at noon. Give a call and let us know if you want to join us at 785- 2500.

6th annual Battle of the Books

Body
The ESU #11 Gifted Department hosted their 6th annual Battle of the Books. There were 41 students present from 11 different districts. The students were able to visit with Lauren Wolk, author of Echo Mountain and Marsha Forchuk Skrypuch, author of Don’t Tell the Nazis. They all made Memory Boxes, an activity similar to the one in The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise. All the books mentioned were one of the 32 books that were presented to the students. They had to read a certain amount to be able to participate in the final battle, based on their grade level. We are very proud of all of the students and amazed at how much they read. The big student winner of the day was Allegra Johnson from Wilcox-Hildreth, who read and completed activities on 22 books. The purpose of this activity is to get the students reading, and we’ve been very successful at that!! A BIG thanks go out to all of the schools for their support and help with this project. There were students participating from Cambridge, Arapahoe, Southern Valley, Wilcox-Hildreth, Franklin, Alma, Holdrege, Elwood, Bertrand, Eustis-Farnam, and Axtell.
