Oxford - The Southern Valley Junior Shooters held their fundraiser hamburger feed on Wednesday, April 14. The event was well attended and helped to raise money to attend the state tournament in Doniphan. Southern Valley - New members were inducted into the Southern Valley chapter of the National Honor Society on Monday, April 19 at Southern Valley during academic honors night. The new members are (left to right): Kolby Hunt, Keira Wasenius, Lessica Lambert, Camden Wright, and Brianna Jorgenson.

Cambridge Public Schools will honor an recognize Dr. Tami Johnson as a distinguished alumni Friday morning at 8 a.m.

Cambridge School Board met in a special meeting Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at 7:30 am. All members were present. Discussion was held about the Cambridge Daycare Foundation request to use another room for daycare. Superintendent Greg Shepard said the Board should consider two things: if the Daycare Foundation can use the second room and standardizing a pay/fee schedule for outside entities using the facility. Shepard said in conversations with the school attorneys there were many examples of pay/fee schedules from other schools to use to draft one specific for Cambridge Public Schools. Shepard also commented that after checking with the school attorneys, no board member had a conflict of interest in this matter.

Area youth will have the opportunity to hone their volleyball skills this summer through three camps offered by the North Platte Community College Knights Volleyball Team. Team Camps The Knights will host high school team camps June 28-29 and July 12-13.

10 years ago The annual Cambridge Chamber of Commerce Volunteer Banquet honored Bill Minnick, Tammy Sexton, and Randy Heitmann as the 2011 Volunteers of the Year. “The purple house” as it’s known in Cambridge, was taken over by the city early this spring.

10 years ago Junior High Chorus opened the Junior and Senior High Spring Concert singing, “Come Go With Me”. Members of the chorus are Leslee Fiene, Brittany Dickau, Anna Eggers, Morgan Anderson, Caleb Williams, Adam Beam, Cole Remmenga, Zachary Hackbart, Deone Wilson, Blake Tiede, Matthew Rahjes, Garrison Crowell, Billie Smith, and Sean Clouse.

10 years ago Roberta Carpenter donated many copies of different articles on Bartley history. She brought a wonderful scrapbook put together by Frances Lohr Carpenter full of history of Bartley.

100 Years Ago April 21, 1921 C.F. Phinney, Oxford was robbed of $240 after being struck unconscious by thugs in Denver who had seen him receive the money after he had sold his car.
