Elwood High School recently had two students win first and second place in the Nebraska Game & Parks Kayak Kids essay writing contest. Delaney Collins, first place winner, will receive a sit-on-top kayak, paddle and life jacket. Gracie Rushton, runner-up, will receive a rod and reel.

Annual subscription rates to the Valley Voice newspaper will increase effective January 1, 2022. The increase will take the cost of in-state subscriptions from $36 for a 12 months to $45 and out-of-state subscriptions from $40 to $50.

Volunteers unloaded more than 300 wreaths for the Cambridge Wreaths Across America event scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m. Similar events will also take place this weekend throughout the area and the public is encouraged to attend.

Hazel Frances Hays Cross will celebrate her 106th birthday on December 19, 2021. Hazel currently lives at the Good Samaritan Rest Home in Arapahoe, and enjoys visiting with friends, family and the staff.
