LINCOLN - The NSAA released high school football district assignments for the 2022 and 2023 seasons Tuesday. Schools will now submit out-of-district opponent wish lists to the NSAA, which will then formulate schedules for the next two seasons.

CAMBRIDGE - The Cambridge boys basketball team kept its unbeaten start to the season in tact with a gritty 66- 59 win over Loomis Tuesday night. Coupled with a thirdquarter surge to push the Trojans past South Loup on the road Friday, Cambridge improved to 5-0 before heading to Cozad (3-0) Thursday.

MCCOOK-Friday the Cattle Trail Tournament continued and on the girl's side of things, in the consolation bracket Southwest was set to take on Dundy County-Stratton. The Roughriders were able to take care of business in that one winning big 67-37.

SOUTHERN VALLEY - A tough shooting night and an explosive second half from visting Overton proved to be too much for the Southern Valley boys basketball team Saturday. The Eagles dropped the contest to Overton, 65-33 after trailing 25-16 at the break.

BERTRAND- Tuesday evening the Hi-Line Bulls traveled down highway 23 to Bertrand to take on the Vikings. The Bulls played a solid game, winning 45-33. To start out, it was touch and go for both teams as Bertrand had 10 turnovers and Hi-Line had eight. The Bulls led at the end of the first though 9-8.

BERTRAND- It was a high-scoring affair Tuesday night between rivals Bertrand and Hi-Line. The Vikings got the better of the Bulls winning 78-63. In the first quarter, Ryker Evans had the Bulls on the right track as he scored seven points but the Bulls trailed 14-11. The Vikings kept pushing the action as they scored 18 points in the second quarter leading 32-26 at halftime.

SARGENT - In a tournament field that included some of the best teams from the region and the State, the Cambridge wrestlers finished fourth and the Hi-Line grapplers took 10th at the Twin Loup Invite Friday in Sargent.

OSCEOLA - Following a 63-15 loss in a dual to Thayer Central Friday night, the Southwest wrestling team finished with three medalists at the Osceola Invite on Saturday. Jacob Kerns (pictured right) at 132 pounds, Tyler Ellis at 152 pounds and Clayton Hardy at 220 pounds each finished second in their respective weight classes.

CAMBRIDGE - The Cambridge girls basketball team ended a two-game skid with a 45-33 win over Loomis Tuesday. Cambridge led throughout and fought off a secondhalf Loomis rally with stingy defense and strong shooting at the charity stripe.
