CAMBRIDGE - The Cambridge track and field teams swept the team titles at the Medicine Valley Invite in Cambridge Monday while Southwest finished runner-up in the boys division. The Arapahoe boys took fourth, while Southwest and Arapahoe took fifth and sixth in the girls’ team standings.

CAMBRIDGE - The Cambridge boys golf team put together one of its better rounds of the season as it fired a 411 to take first at the Southwest Invite in Cambridge Thursday. The Trojans’ Caleb Shaner shot an 89 to finish first individually while teammates Thatcher Patterson Ethan Sides each shot a 104 to take fifth and sixth, respectively.

Southern Valley wins Alma Invite by a stroke

ALMA - The Southern Valley boys golf team came out on top of a five-team battle for first at the Alma Invite Monday. The Eagles shot a 359 to finish first, beating out Franklin, which shot a 360, Elm Creek and Overton, which each finished with scored of 362, and Alma, which finished with a 370.

Hi-Line competes at Bertrand

BERTRAND - The Hi-Line track and field team hit the road for Bertrand on Monday. The weather warmed up Monday for the Bertrand Invite and the scoring rose with the temperatures for the girls as they scored 30 points to finish ninth in the team race.

Southern Valley JH medals 16 at Alma

The members of the Southern Valley Junior High Track Teams participated in their first junior high track meet ever. Alma hosted the 12 team invitational on Tuesday, April 13. The girls team won the meet with 76 points. The boys finished ninth with 13 points.

Rain, rain (and snow), Go Away

Local track and golf athletes saw their seasons paused at both the end of last week and the beginning of this week due to a cold snap and two separate episodes of winter weather that brought quickly-melting snow to the area. The Medicine Valley Track Invite (hosted in Cambridge), the Bertrand Track Invite and Alma Golf invite were all rescheduled to Monday, Aprl 26. The Arapahoe Junior High Track Invite was pushed back to May 14.

Local artists take part in Paint-In

Despite some weather closures Friday, 16 teams of high school artists competed in the annul McCook Community College paint-in competition at the Peter and Dolores Graff Events Center. A team from Maywood received first place in Friday’s paint-in competition.

Golfers battle conditions at Arapahoe Golf Invite

ARAPAHOE - The Southern Valley golf team finished runner-up and five local individuals finished in the top 15 at the Arapahoe Golf invite Tuesday. With cool and blustery conditions, especially early, scored stayed low for a number of golfers, led locally by Southern Valley’s Colton Burgeson, who fired a 85 to finish sixth individually.

CAMBRIDGE - On a sunsplashed day in Cambridge, a number of area teams competed in the Don Stine Invite Saturday. The Cambridge girls finished runner-up, scoring more than 160 points, but couldn’t keep pace with champion Chase County, who dominated the medals and scored 224.
