Hi-Line boys finish fourth at South Loup

The Hi-Line boys finished fourth and the girls took 16th at the South Loup Invite last Friday. The Bulls scored 33 points to tie Sandhills Valley for fourth place behind Burwell, the team champion, Mullen and South Loup.

JOHNSON LAKE - The Southern Valley golf team took fifth while the Hi-Line golf team finished eighth at its home golf invite last Tuesday, firing a team score of 428, which was just two strokes back of Axtell for seventh and four strokes better than Pleasanton for ninth.

Area golf teams open season at Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE - Four area golf teams opened their season at the Cambridge Invite last Wednesday at Cross Creek Golf Links. Southern Valley led the way with a fifth place finish and a score of 389 while Cambridge was eighth with a 423.
Southern Valley’s Brody Yant finished third at Cambridge.

Cambridge finishes first, second at DCS

BENKELMAN - On a windy day, the Cambridge track and field teams finished as champions and runner-up at the DCS Invite Tuesday. The Cambridge girls dominated the meet, scoring 201 team points while racking up 30 medals.
The Cambridge girls track and field team scored more than 200 points to win the DCS Invite Tuesday. The Trojans won 30 medals and took first in nine of the 17 events.

Eagles, Trojans compete at Cambridge Relays

The Cambridge and Southern Valley Boys and Girls Track teams participated in the Cambridge Trojan Relays on Wednesday. The seven-team meet consisted of only relays no individual efforts were scored. In the field events, the three competitors’ best efforts were totaled to determine the event placings except in the pole vault and high jump only two competitors were entered.

NSAA awards local students with Academic All-State Honors

The Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) is pleased to announce the student recipients of the Winter 2020-21 Nebraska Chiropractic Physicians Association (NCPA) Academic All-State Awards. Since 2006 this NSAA Award Program has recognized students who meet the criteria for nomination by their school in the season of their activity.

Southern Valley Boys Basketball Wraps Up a Winning Season at State Southern Valley Boys Basketball finished their season after a 43-49 loss to Humphrey-Lindsay Holy Family (H-LHF) in the first round of state playoffs on Wednesday March 13th. H-LHF came out in a tough full-court press against the Eagles, but the Eagles battled throughout the first quarter.

MINDEN - For a half Monday night, the Southern Valley boys basketball team hung in against a big, strong, physical Bruning-Davenport-Shickley squad in a stodgy, half-court basketball game. The Eagles trailed 25-21 at the break, but that style of play wasn’t likely to get the job done.
