SHELBY - With a pair of individual champions, the Arapahoe wrestling team finished second at the Class D Subdistrict 1A Tournament at Shelby-Rising City Saturday.
Eight different Warriors wrestlers achieved the top four finish required to reach next weekend's District Championship, from which the top four will advance to the State Meet.
Levi Kerner (285) remained unbeaten, finishing first with just 18 seconds on the mat Saturday. Wyatt Jenkins also finished first place at 160 pounds.
DONIPHAN - With four individual champions and four more runner-up finishes, the Southwest wrestling team dominated the Class D Subdsitrict 2B Tournament at Doniphan-Trumbull Saturday.
With wrestlers needing to finish in the top four of their weight classes to reach the district final, the Roughriders nearly advanced the entire team as 10 of 12 individuals for Southwest made it to next weekend.
BRAINARD - With a new postseason format for high school wrestling, the Cambridge wrestling team made the most of its weekend at the Class D Subdistrict 3B Tournament and advanced nine of their 12 wrestlers on to the district tournament. Wrestlers had to finish in the top four of their weight class at subdistricts to reach the district tournament, which is next Saturday at Central Valley High School in Greeley. The top four at the district meet will advance on to the State Meet.
GREELEY - Eight wrestlers from Southern Valley and seven more from Hi-Line took top four medals at the Class D Subdistrict 3A Tournament Friday at Central Valley High School. Each of them will return to the same gym for next Saturday's District D-3 Final, where they'll compete for the next goal - reaching the Class D State Tournament in Omaha.
