CAMBRIDGE - The Southwest girls basketball team suffocated Cambridge with full-court pressure and knocked Cambridge out early in a 56-19 victory Friday night. The Roughriders turned turnovers into easy buckets and built a 28-4 lead after eight minutes.
ARAPAHOE - Southern Valley held host Arapahoe to 19 points through three quarters and built a big lead that held up late as the Eagles grabbed their third win in a 42-31 triumph Saturday. The Eagles kept Arapahoe in check, but managed a modest 22-15 lead at the half.
Cambridge Board of Education met on Monday, January 13, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. All board members were present for the meeting. Guests for the meeting included Stuart Johnson from Sampson Construction and Jacob Sertich from Wilkins Architecture Design and Planning. High school student E.J. Valesco was also in attendance.
AMHERST - Fourteen local wrestlers earned medals and Cambridge, Southern Valley and Hi-Line finished in the top 10 at the 18-team Amherst Invite Saturday. Cambridge’s Dierks Sayer led the way with an individual title at 138 pounds and helped the Trojans to a sixth-place finish.
CAMBRIDGE - A wild and explosive fourth quarter push rival scorers to big nights, but Cambridge outlasted Southwest, 76-65, Friday night to win their third-straight. Brady Ahlemeyer poured in 42 points for Cambridge, knocking down 11 of 13 free throws down the stretch to salt the game away.
ARAPAHOE - The Arapahoe girls basketball team ambushed visiting Southern Valley in the first quarter Saturday, jumping out to a 17-8 lead after a quarter. But the Eagles righted the ship and erased the deficit with a strong third quarter, eventually escaping with a 4641 victory, their ninth-straight after starting the season with consecutive losses.
BARTLEY - The Southwest boys basketball team rolled to its third victory of the season, flying past Franklin Friday, 56-27. Scoring and statistical information was not available as of press time..
CURTIS - Medicine Valley hosted Alma for a girls/ boys basketball doubleheader Friday and dropped both ends as Alma defeated the Raiders 71-14 in the girls contest and 53-40 in the boys’ game. In the girls matchup, Alma took control early and never looked back, winning 71-14.
BARTLEY - The Southwest girls basketball team rolled to its sixth-straight victory Friday night, downing Franklin, 50-26, to imrpove to 7-1 this season. The Roughriders jumped to a 22-4 lead after a qyarter, then coasted through the final three periods to the victory.
