BARTLEY - Behind 13 threes and a suffocating defense, the Maywood-Hayes Center boys basketball team took down Southwest on the road Saturday, rolling away to a 62-29 victory to improve to 2-0. The Wolves jumped on the Roughriders early, scoring 23 in the opening quarter to build a 16-point lead.

EUSTIS - In the first invite tournament of the season, the Cambridge wrestling team overcame being short a couple starters and rolled to the team title at the Hi-Line Invite Friday. Ten Trojans earned medals, led by individual champions Carter Hanes (150) and Trev Burke (215).

MCCOOK - Of the eight area basketball teams competing at this season’s Cattle Trail Tournament in McCook, four advanced to Friday night’s semifinals. Tuesday, the Southwest girls pulled away from Wauneta- Palisade after halftime to post a 57-39 victory.

BARTLEY - With six medalists and individual titles from Rylan and Ambie Custard, the Southwest girls wrestling team reached a new milestone for the program Friday at its home tournament. By scoring 150 team points, the Roughriders captured the team title at the 29-team tournament, surpassing Minden by two points for the championship.
