ELWOOD - The Southern Valley volleyball team got the best of Hi-Line in both teams’ season opener last week. The Eagles swept past the Bulls, 25-13, 25-17, 2516 to claim the victory.
The Hi-Line football team enjoyed a 7-0 lead at halftime, but saw it evaporate in the second half as Arcadia/Loup City scored twice in the third quarter and twice more in the fourth to take a 26-15 victory over the Bulls in Friday’s season opener.
The Medicine Valley Raiders volleyball team travelled to Maxwell to take on the Tigers last Thursday. The Raiders lost three sets to none, with the score of the first set being 25-15, the second 25-15, and the third 25-23.
The Arapahoe Lady Warriors volleyball team took on the Franklin Flyers at home last Thursday in their first game of the season. The Warriors swept the Flyers three sets to none. The Warriors won set one 25-17, set two 2520, and set three 25-18.
HAYES CENTER The Maywood-Hayes Center volleyball team got off to a strong start Thursday, sweeping both Paxton and Sandhills Valley to open the season 2-0. The Wolves dispatched the Mavericks 25-14, 25-14 in the opener before ecsaping Paxton 25-22 in the first, then rolling to 25-15 win in the second to complete that victory.
CAMBRIDGE - The Cambridge, Hi-Line and Southwest girls golf teams teed off their seasons last Thursday at the Cambridge Invite. The tournament was just nine holes of play as athletes benefitted from an abbreviated tournament to begin their season or in the case of Hi-Line, their program.
MCCOOK - It was a successful opening week, though an exhausting one for the Southern Valley/Alma softball team. The Saints traveled to Chadron Thursday and split an opening triangular with Bayard and Chadron before winning two of three at the Lexington Invite on Saturday.
