Wolves remain unbeaten in 2024

MERNA - The Maywood-Hayes Center boys basketball team remained unbeaten in 2024 with three wins in three days over the weekend to improve their record to 18-2 this season. The Wolves escaped Hershey with a 48-45 win Thursday, then rolled past Hitchcock County, 71-48, on Friday and past Anselmo-Merna, 61-34, on Saturday.

ARNOLD - The Southern Valley boys basketball team slipped under .500 with a tough weekend on the road, falling at Alma and South Loup. The Eagles attempted a late rally at Alma Friday, but came up a point short in a 4847 defeat to the Cardinals.

KEARNEY - The Hi-Line boys basketball team ended a three-game skid with a resounding 69-31 victory over Wilcox-Hildreth to wrap up Fort Kearny Tournament action Friday. The Bulls outscored the Falcons in each quarter and led 30-14 at the half before racing away after the break.

ARAPAHOE - A fourthquarter surge pushed the Cambridge girls basketball team past Arapahoe Tuesday night, clinching a victory from a game the Trojans had trailed for better part of 30 minutes. Arapahoe led almost throughout the first three quarters and held tight to the lead in the fourth.

Hi-Line girls down Axtell for second victory

KEARNEY - A strong first half was enough to push the Hi-Line girls across the finish line for their second victory of the season Thursday. The Bulls scored 21 points before the break and took a 21-11 lead over Axtell before holding on for a 30-26 win over the Wildcats in Fort Kearny Conference Tournament play in Kearney.

The Medicine Valley girls basketball team bounced back from its short appearance in the RPAC tournament with a 2-1 week that included a win over a subdistrict opponent. MV started off the week with a victory on its home court over Mullen last Tuesday.

With the postseason looming, the Medicine Valley Raiders went 2-1 last week with wins over Mullen and Wauneta- Palisade. The Raiders jumped all over Mullen (7-9) early, holding the Broncos to one free throw over game’s first 4:15 and taking a 9-1 lead.
