Hi-Line girls grab first win at Maxwell

After a pair of defeats to open the season, the Hi-Line girls basketball team grabbed its first win with a 50-44 victory at Maxwell Tuesday.

The triumph followed losses to Wilcox-Hildreth, 45-14, on Thursday and to Ansley-Litchfield, 47-36, on Friday.

Thursday, the Bulls fell in a 14-2 hole after a quarter and trailed 24-2 at the half before the Falcons rolled away to a 31-point victory.

Hi-Line boys win one, drop two tight games

After a resounding victory on opening night, the Hi-Line boys basketball team dropped a pair of hard-fought contests with Ansley-Litchfield and Maxwell to fall to 1-2 this season.

The Bulls trounced visiting Wilcox-Hildreth on opening night, scoring 26 points points in the first and 19 more in the second to build a 45-8 lead at the break. From there, they coasted to a 68-26 win.

Thursday, the Roughriders struggled offensively to shake free from visiting Medicine Valley until a 15-point fourth quarter blew open a 43-24 win.

Facing quality competition and four games in six days, the Southern Valley boys basketball team dropped its first three games of the season, falling to Minden 62-19 on Thursday before dropping a 44-22 decision to Elm Creek on Friday. The Eagles also fell to Gothenburg Monday, 66-35.
